A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure commonly performed on women who want to lift their breasts and return them to their full shape. It is popular among new moms, as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and subsequent weight loss can dramatically change the appearance of breasts. A breast lift can enhance both a woman’s appearance and her self-confidence.
Breasts begin to lose their form, elongate, and even get smaller in size as the skin loses elasticity, which can make a woman feel older than she really is. This procedure removes any excess breast tissue and tightens the skin remaining.
A procedure as simple as breast lift can give the breasts a perky and firm appearance, and can drastically affect how a woman feels about herself. Ideal candidates for a breast lift are women who are experiencing sagging breasts, nipples falling below the breast crease or pointing downward, stretched skin or enlarged areolas, flat or elongated breasts, and one breast that is lower than the other—which can all be due to either pregnancy, breastfeeding, gravity, or the natural aging process.
A breast lift with implants can add fullness to the breasts and add cleavage. Many cosmetic surgery facilities will recommend having a breast augmentation and a breast lift done at the same time since they can easily be done together, and with the same incisions. The exact placement of the incisions, however, will be dependent on the patient.
How much do breast lifts cost? There is no one answer to this question, since considerations such as surgeons’ fees, surgery-related expenses, and any simultaneous procedures must first be taken into account. While prices for this particular procedure can vary greatly across San Diego, we make it a point to offer extremely reasonable services without compromising quality. We constantly aim to provide utmost customer satisfaction from beginning to end.
Like all other surgical procedures, a breast lift has its own recovery period. Expect that you will need at least one week of rest, and that you will experience bruising, soreness, and swelling for roughly two weeks. Prescribed medication may be taken to ease the pain and discomfort. The procedure is about two hours or so under general anesthesia.
